Identify the Symbiosis

Lichens and Logs.

Before i tell you witch symbiosis this relationship is i am going to tell you what lichen is, does, and where it grows.

Lichen grows on trees, logs, rocks, and more. There are about 20,000 species of lichen that are known. It is estimated that 6% of all land on Earth is covered in Lichen. Lichens grow in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Lichen can survive in extreme conditions such has the arctic tundra, desserts, rock coasts, or toxic slag heaps. they can even grow inside rocks.

Now that you know a little more about lichen i will now tell you the symbiosis relationship between a log and lichen. The symbiosis relationship between a log and lichen is called Mutualism. Mutualism is when both organisms benefit from the relationship.
