Convection Currents Experiment

We got 2 beakers and had a little Bunson Burners under them. On the one to the right we put blue food coloring it. On the one of the left we put green food coloring in it. We then broke off little pieces of Styrofoam and put them in each beaker. We then watched it and based it off of convection currents.
My observation is that the left beaker, which was smaller then the right one, had the Styrofoam went to a fixated place and had bubbles go towards them. I think since that beaker was less dense it had it’s own little form of convection currents happen. The one on the right didn’t work because it was denser and stuff.

We did this to have a explanation on how convection currents work and to have our own little version of it so we can see it first hand. We also did it so we could have fun and learn at the same time. Yeah. Yeeeeeeah.

Convection Currents

Today we did a demonstration about covection currents, using bunsen burners, beakers, styrofoam and food colloring. We used the bunsen burners to heat up the water in the beakers, then we put in the food colloring to help show the movemnet of the bubbles. The styrofoam is an example of the magma that moves during the process of convection currents.

I observed that the styrofoam that was put into the water moved with the currents. They moved around like the rocks would have. I also realized that the currents have to move fast for them to move the rocks around.

We did this observation to help learn about the process of convection currents. Also to learn about how convection currents move the plates.

Convection Currents

Today we did a demonstration with convention currents. We used two different sizes beakers to show convention currents. We used bunson burners to heat the beakers.  After the beakers were heated up we added food coloring to help see the convection currents.
Then the food color hit the water it spread out in different variations. Some flowed this way and others flowed other ways. The food coloring showed how the convection currents. We also put styrofoam in the beakers to show how the plates move.

We did this demonstration to make sure we understand what is happening to the convection currents and to show how the convection currents work.

Demonstration Blog By Faith

Today we had a demonstration. Mr. Morrow had beakers of water on a Bunson plate. We waited till they both were almost boiling and then add food coloring to them and put pieces of styrofoam in. The styrofoam moved like the plates do on the convection curets.
My observation was that the food coloring was the magma that the styrofoam was the plates. The food coloring moved in circles. The circles represent the matter the is less dense rise to the top and as it cool it becomes denser and then goes back and is heated again and forced to the top.
We did this demonstration because it gave a a good idea of what convection currents look like. It also helps us understand convection currents better.

convection currents

we put food coloring in bololind water and put stirafome on top of the water

the water and food coloring and water and food coloring swirld around and made the ctirafome moove due to convectin currents and the water wold go back down and heat up agin

Seafloor Spreading

Identify 4 evidences the helped prove the continents where moving and explain each one.

1. they look lilke they fit together
2.magneti reversals and the riges
3.sea floor spreding
4.the fosals are found where they look like they were conected

Seafloor Spreading-Explain it.

Identify 2 evidences that helped prove the sea floor was growing and explain each one.

1.the magma coming out of the cracks cooling and spreding the land masses . How do you know?

2.thir is moutans in the botom of the sea becase of the magna cooling. Prove the sea floor is spreading?

Continental Drift/ sea floor spreading

Identify 4 evidences the helped prove the continents where moving and explain each one.

1. ROCK DISTRIBUTIONS-Explain each one.

2. MOUNTAIN RANGES
3. FOSSIL DISTRIBUTIONS
4. EVIDENCE OF GLACIATION

Identify 2 evidences that helped prove the sea floor was growing and explain each one.

1. Mountain Ranges. Does this prove the sea floor was spreading?

2. Fossil Distributions Does this prove the sea floor is spreading?
