Vocabulary In Action- Chapter 24

Habitat- A habitat is a pace where an animal lives. A habitat provides food, shelter and is located in an area with a suitable climate.







Population- the same species living in one area.










Biosphere-  The biosphere is a part of the earth that supports life.

Biotic- Biotic can be anything living or that has once lived.

Vocabulary in action

Biosphere - The crust of the Earth, all water on Earth, and the atmosphere make up the Biosphere. The first picture represents all the water on Earth. The second picture represents the Atmosphere. And lastly the third picture represents the crust of the Earth.


Habitat - The Home of an organism. The habitat provides food, shelter, water, and the temperature needed for the organism's survival. In this picture the hole is a habitat for a ground squirrel.

    

Biotic - All the
living things or once living on Earth are Biotic. The plants and fungus are good examples of biotic. The Animals and insects are living so that also makes then biotic.

 
 

Vocabulary in Action Chapter 24- Section 1

Biosphere- The Earth as a whole. All living things and their environment, including the air and water surrounding them. The biosphere includes the top of the earth's crust, all of the water that covers the earth's surface, and the atmosphere that's around earth. 

Biotic- Biotic is all living things. Organisms that get nutrients, perform metabolism, produce energy, and can move about in its surrounding area.  Biotic can be anything that has lived or that is still living.

Habitat- Habitat is the place an animal or organism lives. It's the animals house or it's environment. This is a bird hole where a bird would live, store its food, and possibly have a family.

Abiotic- Abiotic are non-living components. Abiotic is any non-living part of the environment such as rock, soil, sun, wind and oxygen. This is a picture of dirt, it helps ants make there homes to live in. Even if it is non-living it still helps animals.

Habitat - an animals habitat is where it has food, shelter and it is the right temperature for the animals.

This picture represents the salmons habitat.

Ecosystem - the ecosystem constists of all of the living organisms in an area. The ecosystem is like a big group of people and animals and other living things.

This picture represents the deer lives in my ecosystem.

Community - a community is all of populations of all of the species

living in an ecosystem.

This picture represents a community of aunt hills.

Vocabulary in Action- Chapter 24

Habitat- This picture represents a habitat. This is a squirrel's nest. The squirrel's habitat is in a tree to keep it away from predators. It also gives the squirrel easy access to its food. The nest is also built of sticks to make it strong. The nest is also built in an area that has a good climate for the squirrel to survive in.

Population- This picture is of a population. Population means all of the same species living in one area. In this picture there is a population of turtles. Since the turtles are the same species and live in the same area they make up a population. 

Biosphere- The biosphere is the part of the earth that supports life. The biosphere includes the top of the earth's crust, all of the water that covers the earth's surface, and the atmosphere that's around earth. In this picture the biosphere is represented by the grass an the sky. 

Biotic- In this picture the moth is representing a biotic part of the ecosystem. In this case the moth is living so its is considered biotic. Biotic can be anything living or that has once lived.

Biosphere-In this picture you see an example of the biosphere. Which is composed of land, water and the atmosphere. The biosphere supports supports all life on earth. The biosphere is made up different environments that are home different kinds of organisms.  

Biotic- This picture represents two examples of a biotic factor.  The Mosquito and the leaf are both living organisms there for are considered biotic factors.  Organism that were once alive are also considered biotic factors.
